New Stories features SCPA faculty Jeremy Brown and Jani Parsons in a wide array of magnetic works for saxophone and piano by some of today's most compelling compositional voices from Canada and the USA. The music presented reflects an array of influences, folk songs, stories and traditions that shape our perspectives and weave together diverse lines of human meaning and connection. The music featured includes works by Dorothy Chang, Malcolm Forsyth, Kelly-Marie Murphy, Francine Trester, Reena Ismail, and a world premiere by Calgary-based composer/arranger/pianist Marc Limacher.

Calgary Philharmonic Concertmaster Diana Cohen and pianist Roman Rabinovich perform a program that explores the full range of the human condition, from its darkest lows to the bliss of romantic love, with these contrasting works where virtuosity is in full display.
Praised for her “incredible flair, maturity and insight,” violinist Diana Cohen leads a multi-faceted career as a concertmaster, chamber musician, soloist, and arts administrator. Appointed concertmaster of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra in 2012, she previously served as concertmaster of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra and Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra while maintaining an active freelance career in New York City.
The eloquent Israeli-US pianist Roman Rabinovich has been highly lauded by The New York Times, BBC Music Magazine, the San Francisco Classical Voice and others. He has performed throughout Europe and the United States in venues such as Wigmore Hall in London, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Centre in New York, the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, the Cité de la Musique in Paris, and the Terrace Theater of Kennedy Center in Washington DC.

Acclaimed Canadian pianist Tony Yike Yang makes his Calgary debut in a dynamic solo piano recital celebrating the Lunar New Year with a complete performance of composer Vincent Ho's "The 12 Chinese Zodiac Animals Book 2: Preludes and Fugues" as well as a selection of honoured classics. This concert is generously sponsored by Walt and Irene Deboni and 100% of the ticket sales will contribute towards the music program at the University of Calgary School of Creative and Performing Arts.
